On June 28, 2005, four Navy SEALs from SEAL Team 10 were sent on a mission to capture or kill a top Taliban commander in the mountains of Afghanistan. The mission, known as Operation Red Wings, quickly turned into a disaster. The SEALs were ambushed by a much larger force of Taliban fighters, and three of them were killed in the initial attack.
The lone survivor, Petty Officer Marcus Luttrell, was left for dead on the battlefield. He managed to crawl to safety and spend the next four days evading the Taliban and seeking help. Luttrell's story of survival is an incredible tale of courage, determination, and the unbreakable bond between SEALs.
Operation Red Wings is the definitive account of this tragic mission. Luttrell and Robinson provide a gripping, first-hand account of the events that unfolded that day, from the planning of the mission to the aftermath of the ambush. They also tell the stories of the fallen SEALs, whose sacrifice will never be forgotten.
Operation Red Wings is a must-read for anyone interested in military history, the Navy SEALs, or stories of heroism and sacrifice. It is a powerful reminder of the bravery and dedication of our armed forces, and the ultimate price that they can pay for our freedom.
